N'ganj Four-Murder: Probe team seeks 25 more days

Although 12 days have passed, police could not yet unearth reasons behind the murder of four youths in Narayanganj's Araihazar upazila.

Araihazar police said they were still investigating the matter, while a separate probe committee, asked to file a report within seven working days, has sought 25 days more to complete its investigation.

On October 24, the deputy inspector general of police (Dhaka Range) formed the three-member committee to investigate the murders and submit a report in seven working days.

Talking to The Daily Star on Sunday, head of the committee and also the additional deputy inspector general of Dhaka Range, Abu Kalam Siddiq, said, “We have written to the authorities to give us 25 more days to complete the investigation.” He declined to disclose any details until their probe is complete.

Araihazar Police Station's Inspector Shafiqul Islam, the investigation officer of two cases in connection with the incident, said they were waiting for post-mortem and ballistic reports.
