Man 'kills' brother to marry sister-in-law
What may sound like a movie, has allegedly unfurled in real life.
Azmal Haque Mintu, a resident of Korail slum in the capital, allegedly hired three hitmen to kill his own brother.
After the murder, Mintu himself went to Badda Police Station to file a case accusing unknown persons for killing his elder brother Moniruzzaman Monir -- in a bid to dodge law enforcers.
The motive behind the gruesome crime is supposedly Mintu's eight-year long affair with Monir's wife Kajal Rekha.
The matter was disclosed during a press briefing by Mostaque Ahmed, deputy commissioner (Gulshan Division) of DMP at his office, a day after Mintu and the three killers were arrested in the capital.
The DC said Mintu hired Abdul Mannan, Sohag, and Fahim and promised them Tk 1 lakh for killing his brother Monir.
He paid them Tk 30,000 in advanced and assured to pay the rest after the job is done, the police official also said.
According to the plan, Mintu invited his brother to Dhaka.
On September 8, when Monir reached Dhaka, Mintu told his brother that his friend Mannan will receive him from the bus stand.
Mannan, Sohag, and Fahim took Monir to Badda's Satarkul area and stabbed him to death, the DC said.
The reason behind this sordid incident was Mintu's desire to marry his sister-in-law Rekha. When he pursued her, she said it was not possible until Monir was alive, the DC quoted Mintu.
Earlier on Thursday Dinajpur police arrested Rekha. She gave confessional statement before a Dhaka court.
