Man held for rape of neighbour’s daughter

Police yesterday arrested a man on charge of raping his neighbour's daughter in Narayanganj.

Humayun Kabir (30), was arrested from his residence in the afternoon after mother of the girl, a fifth grader at a local madrasa, filed a case with Rupaganj Police Station on Sunday, said SI Shatarupa Kundu of the police station.

According to the case statement, Humayun, a day labourer, on December 13 asked the girl to come to his house and raped her. She then informed her mother of the incident, who filed the case, said police.

Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge of the police station, said they sought three-day remand for Humayun from court.
