Leaked Phone Call: Nowmi placed on remand

A Chattogram court yesterday placed Milhanur Rahman Nowmi on one day's remand in a case filed for conspiring to destabilise the country by instigating a student movement.

The case was filed on August 4 with Kotwali Police Station in the port city, after a leaked phone conversation, allegedly between BNP activist Nowmi and the party's central leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, surfaced on social media during students' protests demanding safe roads.

Metropolitan Magistrate Khairul Amin passed Nowmi's remand order after he was produced before the court with a five-day remand prayer, police sources said.
