Italian envoy pays farewell call on foreign minister

The foreign ministry has appreciated outgoing Italian Ambassador Mario Palma’s compassionate and constructive approach to tackle the situation in the aftermath of Holey Artisan Café attack in Dhaka.

Apart from nine Italians, seven Japanese, one Indian, one Bangladeshi-born American, two Bangladeshis and two police officials were killed in the terror attack on July 1, 2016.

Ambassador Palma was paying a farewell call on Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and State Minister Shahriar Alam at the ministry yesterday.

The ambassador appreciated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her strong leadership role during the incident.

He also expressed satisfaction at the beginning of trial of the accused, said a foreign ministry press release.

During the meeting, they also discussed trade and investment.
