Holey Artisan Attack Case: Four more witnesses testify

Four more prosecution witnesses yesterday gave their statements before a tribunal in connection with the Holey Artisan attack case.

The witnesses are Sanjoy Barua, an electrician of the café; Mohammad Hossain, a security guard; Mohammad Lelin Mollah, an employee of the café; and Tarun Gomez, manager of a building adjacent to Holey Artisan Bakery.

Judge Majibur Rahman of Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal recorded their statements. Later, defense counsel for the accused cross-examined the witnesses on different points.

During yesterday's hearing, six of the accused, now in jail custody, were produced before the tribunal. Two other accused had absconded from the scene of the incident.

On July 1, 2016, armed militants stormed the café in Gulshan's diplomatic zone and killed 20 hostages, most of them foreign nationals.

Earlier, eight prosecution witnesses, including the complainant himself, testified in connection with the case.

On July 23 last year, Inspector Humayun Kabir of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit pressed charges against eight persons in the case.

On November 26, the tribunal framed charges against the accused.
