Government reconstitutes Press Appellate Board

The government has reconstituted the Press Appellate Board as a post of the board fell vacant following the death of its member Golam Sarwar, editor of Bangla daily Samakal.

Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Mohammad Momtaj Uddin Ahmed is the ex-officio chairman of the board, said an official release yesterday.

Press Appellate Board disposes of appeals filed against any decision of a concerned district magistrate on giving declaration of a newspaper as per the Printing Presses and Publications (Declaration and Registration) Act, 1973.
