FR Tower Case: Former Rajuk chief engineer granted bail

The High Court yesterday granted bail to former chief engineer of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) Saidur Rahman in a case filed by Anti-Corruption Commission over forgery in the design of Banani’s FR Tower, which caught fire in March, leaving 25 people dead and 73 injured.

The bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam granted the bail following a petition filed by Saidur seeking bail in the case.

The HC granted the bail as Saidur’s lawyer Advocate Qamrul Islam informed the court that his client is sick, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik told The Daily Star.

He said the government will move an appeal before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, seeking stay on the HC verdict.
