Four scammers held with firearms in Ctg

Chattogram police yesterday arrested four frauds who allegedly lured people in with fake promise of selling dollars at cheap rates. They were in possession of firearms and sharp weapons when arrested from Nandan Kanon area under Kotwali police station.

The arrestees are Md Jamal Sheikh, 40; Jamal Molla, 40; Miton Fakir alias Baghu, 25; and Razzak Sheikh, 35.

Officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammed Mohsin of Kotwali Police said, they were arrested while crossing the area. A light gun and three knives were recovered from their possession after police searched them over suspicious movement.

In primary interrogation, the arrestees admitted that they offer to sell dollars at a lower price than the market rate, and once someone arrives to buy it, they take their money and other valuables by threatening them with weapons, said the OC.

The OC also mentioned that three of the arrestees, stand accused in multiple cases.
