Five held with 9,200 yaba pills

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested five suspected yaba traders from a hotel in Miabazar area under Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla early yesterday.

The detainees are Rasel Shikder, 31; Rezaun Sarder, 25; Saddam Hossain, 25; Reaz Hossain, 29; and Rashedul Islam, 25; said Sheikh Billal Hossain, additional police superintendent and company commander of Rab-11.

On information that the men were transporting yaba from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka, a team of Rab-11 arrested them from Tajmahal Hotel in Cumilla.

The men were taken to a local hospital for X-ray and doctors found yaba pills inside their stomach, the Rab official said, adding that a total of 9,200 yaba pills were recovered from them through a medical procedure.

Filing of a case in this regard was underway, the Rab official added.
