Fire guts valuables of 24 shops, 9 houses

Valuables of 24 shops and nine houses were gutted in separate fire incidents in Chattogram's Fatikchhari and Chandanaish upazilas yesterday.

In Fatikchhari, valuables worth Tk 5 lakh of 24 shops were gutted at Dantmara Bazar.

Originating from a tea-stall oven, fire spread to adjacent shops around 2:20am, said Jasim Uddin, assistant director of fire service, Chattogram. Firefighters doused the blaze around 5am.

In Chandanaish, fire, originating from an electric short circuit at a house, gutted valuables, worth Tk 4 lakh, of nine houses in Hazirpara area.
