Death of Dia-Rajib: Three more witnesses testify in court

A Dhaka court yesterday recorded statements of three witnesses in a case filed over the death of two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College on July 29.

With this, the court recorded the statements of 29 witnesses among 41 in the case filed against six persons including two drivers, their assistants, and two owners of Jabal-E-Noor Paribahan buses.

Additional Judge Al-Mamun of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court recorded the statements of Ariful Islam, Md Assaduzzaman and Md Abdus Salam.  “The court is likely to record testimonies of another three witnesses today,” said Additional Public Prosecutor Tapash Kumar Pal.

On October 25, the court framed homicide charges against six accused in the case. The six indicted are bus drivers Masum Billah and Zobair Hossain Sumon, their assistants Enayet Hossain and Kazi Asad, and bus owners Shahadat Hossain and Jahangir Alam.

Meanwhile, bus owner Shahadat Hossain got bail from the High Court division yesterday, APP Tapash added.

On July 29, two Jabal-E-Noor Paribahan buses were racing each other moments before one of them ploughed into a crowd, killing Abdul Karim Rajib, 18, and Dia Khanam Mim, 17, in Kurmitola.
