Case filed against 13 persons, two arrested

A case was filed yesterday with Khulshi Police Station accusing 13 persons for the death of Abdus Sukkur Hridoy in Khulshi area of the city.

Sukkur's mother filed the case accusing seven named and six unnamed individuals, said Sub-inspector (SI) Nur Uddin, the second officer of the police station.

Sukkur died from his injuries on Saturday at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) following a clash the day before with his rivals over collection of extortion money from trucks that transport construction materials.

So far, two youths -- Tajul Islam Jony and Mohammad Saddam -- have been shown arrested in this connection. They were also injured in the clash and currently undergoing treatment at CMCH, SI Nur Uddin said.

“There was a longstanding rivalry between them over collection of extortion money from trucks carrying construction materials and over establishing supremacy in the area,” he said, adding that on Friday, collection of extortion money from a brick truck triggered the clash between the rivals.
