Bus catches fire in Ctg
A Chattogram-bound local bus caught fire at Banshkhali upazila in the district yesterday, police said.
The incident took place when the driver, despite several attempts, failed to start the engine of the vehicle, said Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali Police Station.
Around 8:30am, upon the driver's request, all passengers got off the vehicle and started to push the bus, while the driver was still sitting holding the steering, trying to start the engine.
After a while, the bus caught fire and the driver instantly got off the vehicle, the OC added.
On information, a team from Banshkhali fire service rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after an hour.
The fire might have originated from overheating of the engine, said Abdur Rahim, team leader of the fire station.
Nobody was hurt in the incident, as they all managed to get off before the fire spread, OC Kamal also said.
