BNP to observe 'Revolution and Solidarity Day' today

The BNP will observe, what it says, National Revolution and Solidarity Day today, marking the “civil-military uprising” in 1975.

On this day in 1975, amid political turmoil, soldiers and civilians jointly freed then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman, founder of the party, from captivity in Dhaka cantonment, paving the way for Zia to come to power.

The BNP has planned a two-day programme to observe the day with due respect.
