Appoint receivers for OC Pradeep’s property: court
A Chattogram court yesterday asked the district administrations of Cox's Bazar and Chattogram to appoint receivers to look after suspended OC Pradeep Kumar Das and his wife Chumki Karan's property.
The court of Chattogram Metropolitan Session Judge Sheikh Ashfaqur Rahaman passed the order following an appeal by Anti-Corruption Commission, said ACC Public Prosecutor Mahmudul Haque.
On September 20 last year, a court ordered to freeze all movable and immovable properties of the suspended OC of Teknaf Police Station.
Pradeep's wife had shown inheritence and business ventures in her income tax returns, but could not show documents to support her property and investments, ACC said.
Analysing documents, the commission also found that Chumki had amassed Tk 4.22 crore immovable property and spent Tk 21.7 lakh as family expenditure.
On Sunday, a Cox's Bazar court framed charges against 15 accused, including suspended inspector Liaqat Ali and former OC Pradeep Kumar Das, in a case filed over Maj (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder.
