Anti-Corruption Commission approves two graft cases

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday approved a charge-sheet against 24 persons in a graft case filed over selling government properties.

According to the charge-sheet, the accused sold about 6.5 acres of land in Gulshan to Popular Life Insurance Company Ltd through forgery and obtained Tk 91 crore from the company.

ACC's investigation found that some officers of Land Records and Survey Department and Directorate of Registration were involved in the graft.

The case was filed with Gulshan Model Police Station in 2011.

The anti-graft watchdog also approved a case against a businessman and two officials of AB Bank for misappropriating Tk 133 crore.

ACC's enquiry found that Yasir Enterprize opened LCs with AB Bank's Port Connecting Branch of Chattogram to import food items.

Yasir Enterprize sold the food at local market but did not repay the money to the bank.
