Amir Khasru released from jail

BNP standing committee member and former minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was released from Chattogram Central Jail yesterday.

He was freed around 8:00am after the jail authorities received the bail papers on Sunday evening, said Prasanta Kumar Banik, senior superintendent of the jail.

The HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed granted one year's ad-interim bail to the BNP leader on November 4 in the case filed under ICT and Special Powers Act, said his lawyer Mafizul Islam. 

He was sued by Jakaria Dastagir, general secretary of Chattogram city Chhatra League, after a phone conversation allegedly between Amir Khasru and a BNP activist was leaked.
