Acting editor of news portal remanded

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Sheikh Riad Mohammad Nur, 39, acting editor of online news portal “Dainik71.com,” on a three-day remand in connection with a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Saiduzzaman Sharif passed the order after Sub-inspector Shawkat Ali of Ramna Police Station produced him before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.

According to the remand prayer, Nur spread anti-state propaganda, distorted history of the Liberation War and made indecent remarks on Bangabandhu on the portal and Facebook pages.
