ACC security staffer suspended over bribery
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday suspended a member of its security staff for bribery and fraud.
The police constable, Asaduzzaman, introduced himself as an inspector and took bribe from officials of a private firm, threatening to implicate them in a case, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, ACC's public relations officer.
He took money from the firm in three installments at a restaurant in the capital and in Ramna Park, Pranab added. The incident was unearthed by the commission's intelligence department and was notified to Director General Muhammad Munir Chowdhury.
The ACC has beefed up its internal monitoring system to tackle corruption by its staff members, Munir said.
