45 acres of hilly land saved from grabbing

Forest Department recovered about 45 acres of hilly land from grabbing in Cox's Bazar and Mymensingh in the last two days.

On Tuesday, ACC learnt that a group was razing hill in Cox's Bazar but the local administration was not taking any step.

Later, ACC Director General (Administration) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury asked the district's deputy commissioner to take steps in this regard.

Following the instruction, the department stopped the illegal hill cutting on about 10 acres of land in Cox's Bazar town. It also arrested three persons.

In another drive yesterday, a team of the Forest  Department recovered about 25 acres of land in the district's Fatergona area.

The team also removed more than 100 houses and shops from the land.

Forest Department started planting trees on those land, reports our correspondent.

In Mymensingh, the department recovered its 10 acres of land in Bhaluka upazila. A local influential person enclosed the land by erecting boundary walls.

On Tuesday, an ACC team with the help of local administration demolished the walls.
