11 ‘muggers’ arrested in Ctg

Police in a drive on Saturday night arrested 11 alleged muggers, including five juveniles, and seized four knives from them in the port city’s New Market area.

The juvenile arrestees are aged between 11 and 16, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Sharifuzzaman Bhuiyan of Kotwali Police Station.

The other arrestees are Saddam Hossain, 25, Shamsul Hoque, 21, Mohammad Hasan, 20, Tofazzal, 20, Sakib, 18, and Mohammad Rakin, 18, the SI added.

Based on information, police conducted the drive at late night on the premises of old rail station and arrested the “muggers with knives”, he claimed.

The arrestees, during primary interrogation, said they were taking preparation to mug people in the area, the SI also said.
