New books on Bangabandhu underway

14 volumes to be based on intelligence reports

Publication of a series of books on the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman -- based on intelligence reports against him -- is now underway, said Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina at her party's special extended meeting at Gono Bhaban yesterday.

On Friday, the PM announced that March 2020 to March 2021 would be observed as “Mujib Borsho” [Mujib Year] across the country to mark the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation.

“A number of books on the life and works of Bangabandhu would be published, which would be very useful for learning the country's history and Bangabandhu's struggle for the emancipation of the Bangalee nation,” she said.

Yesterday, Hasina elaborated on the plan, saying that there will be 14 volumes of the books that will contain 40,000 pages.

“In total, 47 files prepared by intelligence agencies against Bangabandhu from 1947 to 1971 were recovered and the books will be published containing those reports,” she said.

Hasina also informed that the files were collected from state-run intelligence agency's special branch.

“The documents also include Bangabandhu's letters to party leaders in different districts. Much information will be revealed when the books will be published,” the AL chief said.

She further said the books containing files from 1947 to 1953 have already been published.
