NCC polls: Shakhawat shoots back at Ivy
BNP’s Narayanganj mayor candidate Shakhawat Hossain today shot back at his rival candidate Selina Hayat Ivy saying that she has lost the ground beneath her feet.
“Ivy has become politically bankrupt. She has lost the ground beneath her feet seeing the flow of people in favour of the sheaf of paddy,” he said while campaigning.
During her previous election, Ivy raised a strong demand for deployment of the army; but this year she just took a u-turn from the demand, Shakhawat said.
Claiming that Ivy is not in a good position, the BNP backed mayoral candidate said the election will be manipulated and that has been proven through a press conference held by Shamim Osman, local lawmaker of the ruling Awami League.
“Ivy was aware about the manipulation and thus she stayed aside from the demand for army deployment,” he added.
He called upon the Election Commission to take measures to ensure that no one can influence the election.
Shakhawat also criticised Shamim Osman for violating electoral code of conduct by seeking votes for Ivy through holding a press conference. “I hope, the election commission will take action in this regard.”
