Nat'l platform for elders' welfare formed

To implement a national policy on elderly people, a platform comprising different organisations and individuals working for the welfare of aged people was formed yesterday.

“Bangladesh Jatiya Probin Mancha” will provide assistance in implementing the national policy.

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) took the initiative to form the platform which was announced at a programme in its auditorium in Dhaka.

PKSF Chairman Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad proposed three committees -- advisory committee, executive committee and general body -- to run the platform.

The members of the advisory committee are Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, State Minister for Finance MA Hannan, writer Selina Hossain and Dhaka University Pro-vice Chancellor Dr Nasreen Ahmad. Menon was chief guest at the event.
