National University official arrested for graft
Anti-Corruption Commission today arrested the acting controller of examinations at National University in connection with a corruption case filed for embezzling Tk 1.04 crore.
Md Badruzzaman was arrested from Mirpur area in Dhaka early today, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told The Daily Star.
Earlier in February, the anti-graft body arrested three officials of the university on this charge.
Despite bar of the ministry, a few years back, the university gave selection grade to mass recruited employees. In 2012, a man filed a case in this regard.
In the complaint, it was mentioned that the three officials disregarded the ministry bar and either embezzled Tk 1,04,63,394 or caused loss of the government.
Assistant Director of the ACC Fazlul Bari was investigating the case.
