His party demands proper treatment for its leader
Nagorik Oikyo yesterday urged the government to ensure proper treatment of its convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, who is now in jail.
Atiqur Rahman, a member of Nagorik Oikyo, said in a statement that Manna has recently been inflicted by pneumonia.
Manna has long been suffering from heart and renal diseases, said Atiqur, adding that his physical condition deteriorated owing to frequent transportation between hospital and jail, reads the statement received yesterday.
In this circumstance, proper treatment is very urgent.
Detectives detained Manna from his Banani residence in the capital on February 24 last year.
The arrest was made a day after his phone conversation with BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka and an anonymous person was leaked to the media.
In the conversation, Manna was heard talking to Khoka about strengthening the anti-government movement.
