Mother remanded over Dhaka siblings killing
A Dhaka court today placed Tanjin Rahman on a five-day remand in connection with the killing of her two children.
Metropolitan Magistrate Golam Nabi passed the order after Sabujbagh police produced her before it with a seven-day remand.
Earlier, the victims’ mother admitted to killing her two children, who were found dead at their North Bashabo residence in Dhaka last evening
She confessed her involvement with the double murder after she was detained in Sabujbagh area around 4:15am today, Abdul Kuddus, officer-in-charge of Sabujbagh Police Station, told The Daily Star this morning.
“We will investigate whether anyone else was involved in the killings,” the police official said.
Meanwhile, victims’ father Mahbubur Rahman lodged a murder case with the police station in the morning.
The mother, who is said to be mentally unstable, remained traceless since the hacked bodies of her two children were recovered last evening, police said.
Victims’ father Mahbubur Rahman, a computer operator at Wasa, found the two blood-stained bodies in two rooms after he returned home following evening prayers. A machete was found in one room.
