Mitu murder accused acquitted in narcotics case
Ehteshamul Haque Bhola, who was arrested for supplying arms in the Mitu murder case, was yesterday acquitted in another case filed in 2009 with Bayezid Police Station under Narcotics Control Act.
The court of Chittagong 3rd Joint Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mosammat Bilkis Akhter, however, sentenced one Oli Uddin to five years imprisonment and fined him Tk 5,000 in the narcotics case, said court sources.
Oli is on the run now.
According to the court sources, on August 15, 2009, the officials of the Department of Narcotics Control arrested Oli from Raufabad in Bayezid area with 10 gm heroin. During interrogation, Oli said Bhola supplied the heroin to him.
Later, a case accusing the two was filed with Bayezid police Station. Oli remained absconding after securing bail.
On September 11, 2009, police submitted the charge sheet accusing Oli and Bhola in the case.
