Minor girl ‘drowns’ in Dhaka canal
A six-year old girl allegedly fell into a canal near Mohakhali bus terminal in Dhaka this afternoon.
Sanjida, daughter of van driver Shah Alam, was playing with her friend Tamim, 7, when she fell into the canal, locals said.
Tamim recounted the incident occurred around 3:00pm, adding that he immediately informed her family members and neighbours.
“Three divers have been searching for the girl since 4:00pm,” said Wahiduzzaman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Banani Police Station.
But, they were yet to recover the child until this report was filed around 9:45pm.
Initially, local people tried to rescue the kid but in vain.
