Man sued for Sylhet rape
A man was sued yesterday on the charge of raping a 12-year-old girl in Sylhet.
The girl's father filed the case with Beanibazar Police Station, accusing Sarwar Ahmed, 38.
After the girl had been raped by her cousin and his friends, her family took shelter in Sarwar's house where her father used to work as a day labourer.
Sarwar assured the girl's father that he would help the family get justice and took the girl to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where tests proved she was raped.
Rab arrested Sarwar early Sunday, after raiding his house in Beanibazar upazila and rescued the girl who is admitted to the hospital.
The Daily Star published a news item in connection with the incident yesterday.
Officer-in-Charge Chandan Kumar Chakrabarty said Sarwar was sent to jail after he was produced before a court.
