Man, nephew electrocuted while fishing

A man and his eight-year-old nephew died from electrocution at Nesarabad upazila in Pirojpur on Thursday.

The deceased are Rezaul Islam, 35, and his nephew Farid, son of Nannu Mia, of Balodia village in the upazila.

On Thursday, Rezaul took his nephew fishing at a paddy field, said Shahidul Islam, officer-in-charge of Nesarabad Police Station, quoting locals.

Around 10:00pm, they came in touch with a live electric wire, which the owner had set up as a trap to kill rats.

Locals took them to Nesarabad Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared them dead.

“Legal steps will be taken against the person who had set up the trap using a live wire,” said the OC.
