Look out for ballot rigging

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged his party workers to be watchful and thwart any ballot rigging on the day of Rangpur City Corporation election as the ruling party, AL, “steals votes”.
“People in the country always suffer a lot whenever AL comes to power,” he also said.
Meanwhile, Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad, after arriving in Rangpur yesterday, said, “I think deployment of army is not required for holding the Rangpur city election” and the election will be free and fair.
Both Fakhrul and Ershad arrived in Rangpur on the same plane from Dhaka.
Both the leaders went to Rangpur city to campaign for mayoral candidates nominated by their parties -- Kawsar Zaman Babla of BNP and Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa of JP.
Joynal Abedin Faruk, adviser to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia; and Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, vice chairman and BNP's chief coordinator for the Rangpur city election monitoring committee; accompanied Fakhrul, among other party leaders.
Ershad was accompanied by JP Co-chairman GM Quader and other party leaders.
The election to Rangpur City Corporation is scheduled to be held on December 21.
