Learning human rights goes beyond borders
Learning good practices from other countries is an essential part of upholding human rights, said Law Minister Anisul Huq yesterday.
“Human rights goes beyond national borders. Learning from good practices from regional and international experiences is an essential component of moving forward,” he said addressing the inaugural session of a seminar titled “Experience sharing of NHRIs [National Human Rights Institutions]: Challenges and Way Forward” at a hotel in the capital, organised by National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Kazi Reazul Hoque, NHRC chairman Bangladesh, said there are some worrying issues for human rights like “killing of bloggers, violence and a recent killing of an MP”.
Shri Justice HL Dattu, chairman of the human rights commission India, and Sudipto Mukerjee, country director of United Nations Development Programme, also spoke.
