Juta protests atrocity against Rohingya
Different organisations yesterday continued to hold protests against the ongoing atrocities on the Rohingyas in Rakhine State of Myanmar.
JU correspondent reports, Jahangirnagar University Teachers Association formed a human chain on the campus, demanding an immediate stop to the horrific acts of violence and urged the world leaders to come forward in this regard.
Addressing the programme, the speakers said the brutality against the Rohingyas crossed the limit. A very few “mass killings” can be compared to this incident, they said.
Prof Hafizur Rahman, vice president of Juta, presided over the programme.
Our Brahmanbaria correspondent adds, about 20,000 madrasa students joined a demonstration in the town.
They brought out a procession from Loknath Maidan and, later, held a rally in Kawtoli bus stand area.
A decision to besiege the Myanmar mission in Dhaka today came from the programmes led by Hefajat-e Islam.
The participants urged the Bangladesh government to mount pressure on Myanmar to stop the massacre. After the meeting, special prayers were offered for the Rohingyas.
