Bangladesh Chhatra League of Jahangirnagar University unit yesterday suspended four of its activists over verbally abusing and attempting to assault journalists on the campus the day before.
It also issued show-cause notices to the four asking them to explain within seven days why they should not be expelled, said a press release.
The suspeneded -- Habibullah Habib, and Shahrukh Shahrier Showmik, final year student of public administration; Nazimul Boron, final year student of economics; and Saikat Mohammad Abdullah, a third year student of finance and banking -- reside at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall.
On Wednesday, some BCL men of the dormitory unit hurled expletives at Belal Hossen Rahat and Sanaullah Mahi, president and vice president of JU Journalists Association, and attempted to assault them when they tried to settle an altercation between Hasan Al Mahmud, a JU correspondent of the daily Manabzamin, and the BCL men, sources said. The altercation ensued as the BCL men forced Mahmud to delete photos he took while the ativists attacked a student on the campus.
