Jamaat leader arrested on various charges in Ctg

Police arrested a local Jamaat-e-Islami leader on various charges in Sadaha area of Chittagong early yesterday.

The arrestee -- Kamal Uddin, 45, son of late Asraf Ali from Sadaha union -- is general secretary of Satkania upazila unit of the party.

Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said Kamal is accused in 18 cases filed over various charges including sabotage, murder and assault on police.

Kamal had terrorised the upazila during the countrywide violence and blockade enforced by BNP and Jamaat, said the OC.
