Hasina chair, Imam co-chair of AL election steering committee

The ruling Awami League has formed “National Election Steering Committee” ahead of the 11th parliamentary election likely to be held at the end of this year.

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina has been made chairperson while HT Imam, a member of the party's advisory council, co-chairman of the committee, according to a press release of the party.

Apart from this, AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader has also been made member secretary of the committee.

The members of Awami League advisory council, central executive committee and presidents and secretaries of its different front and associate bodies have been made members of the committee. HT Imam was also made co-chairman of the election steering committee ahead of the January 5 election in 2014.

Meanwhile, The BNP has assigned the party's standing committee members Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain and Goyeshwar Chandra Roy to coordinate the Gazipur and Khulna city polls respectively. A delegation of BNP led by Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain will go to the election commission office at 11:00am today to meet the chief election commissioner.
