Girl harassed in bus

Agitated students of Premier University at Chittagong vandalised a bus at Wasa junction in the city, centring an incident of harassment of a female student in the bus yesterday.

Driver Md Russell, 26, and his helper Md Hanif, 28, were arrested in this connection.

The incident occurred as a female student of Premier University was harassed by Hanif, the helper of a bus plying route 10 in the city, in Saltgola area at 10:30am, said Sub-inspector (SI) Saleh Uddin of Chawkbazar Police Station.

The student informed her classmates and waited at the Wasa junction looking for the bus. As she identified the helper and the bus on the road at 1:30pm, agitated students beat up the helper and vandalised the bus, the SI said.

The helper and the driver were handed over to EPZ Police Station. The bus was in police custody.
