Facebook to make blood donation easier

Facebook has announced a dedicated space on the platform titled “Blood Donations”,allowing users to find information on blood donation drives, requests, and nearby blood banks, to mark World Blood Donor Day.  

The social media giant will also run a campaign in Bangladesh and three other countries to raise awareness of blood shortage and the importance and impact of donating, said a press release yesterday.

"Blood Donations" will allow Facebook users to sign up for blood donotions and get notifications when there is a need for blood nearby.

More than 10 million people have already signed up and thousands of donations have been facilitated through Facebook, the release added.
