Extended RMP effective from today

The extended territory of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) comes to effect today with establishment of eight new police stations covering an area of 900 square kilometres.

The authorities have appointed new staff including police officers who would take office at the new police stations today, police sources said.

RMP was set up in July 1, 1992 and had only four police stations to cover an area of 203 square kilometres.

Under the extension, the law enforcement agency now has 12 police stations covering an area of 900 square kilometres. The new police stations are -- Airport, Katakhali, Belpukur, Kasiadanga, Chandrima, Paba, Karnahar and Damkura.
