Ex-minister Matiur passes away

Former communication minister M Matiur Rahman passed away at Apollo Hospitals in the capital yesterday morning. He was 98.

Matiur was elected from Barisal sadar constituency during the rule of Hussain Mohammad Ershad. He also served as an ambassador of Bangladesh government and secretary to business affairs ministry. He established many educational institutions in his area.  He left behind two sons and four daughters.

He will be buried in their family graveyard at Joykul village in Kawkhali upazila of Pirojpur probably on Friday, said SM Ahsan Kabir, Kawkhali upazila parishad chairman.
