Elderly woman dies in wall collapse

An elderly woman died as a portion of an earthen wall collapsed in her house at Shah Nagar village in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong yesterday.

The victim -- Owaij Khatun, 80 -- was home alone when a chunk of mud fell on her, police quoted family members as saying.

Amirul Islam, sub-inspector of Fatikchhari Police Station, said incessant rain and flood made the earthen house fragile.
