Eid Rush: Control room aims to ease traffic jam on highways
The Road Transport and Highways Division (RTHD) yesterday set up a central control room in Dhaka to coordinate measures to ease traffic jams during Eid rush.
Officials from Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, Roads and Highways Department and Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation will work jointly from the room, which will remain open round the clock from June 12 to 20.
Shishir Kumar Roy, additional secretary (Estate), RTHD, said they will have teams to monitor important traffic points on the highways and take necessary measures to ease traffic congestion for smooth Eid travels of vacationers.
Shishir is one of the two focal persons of the control room. The other is Kamrul Ahsan, joint secretary (BRTA, Establishment) of RTHD.
The control room was set up at the headquarters of BRTA and can be contacted on 9130662 and 01966622019.
