Education ministry seeks names of those involved

The education ministry yesterday sought from eight general education boards names of those teachers and employees of private schools, involved in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) question paper leak.

The ministry wrote to all the boards asking to submit the names within seven days and details of the actions taken against them so far.

An official of education ministry said, further action will be taken after scrutinising the actions by the divisional educational boards.

This year, question papers of 12 SSC exams were leaked were leaked and shared on social media, hours before the exams.

This was reportedly the largest-ever leak of SSC exam question papers.

Educationists and guardians had expressed grave concerns stating the situation was ruining the overall education system.

At a recent programme, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said, 153 persons were arrested so far and 52 cases were filed against them for their alleged involvement in the question leak.

He also admitted his failure to find the root that caused this leak.

The government took several measures including announcing Tk 5 lakh bounty on the perpetrators involved in the leak.

With all the government steps to stop question leak, High Court formed two committees to find those involved and recommend steps to prevent such incidents.

Meanwhile, the government is planning to bring major changes in conducting SSC and HSC exams next year.
