The Election Commission yesterday started hearing complaints over the country's draft delimitation of constituencies, which will conclude on Wednesday.

On the first day, the EC heard complaints about 13 constituencies, but did not take any decision over the final demarcation of the parliamentary seats, said EC joint secretary in-charge (PR) SM Asaduzzaman.

The 13 constituencies are Nilphamari-3, Kurigram-4, Rangpur-1 and 3, Chapainawabganj-1, Sirajganj-1 and 2, Pabna-1 and 2, Barguna-1, and Pirojpur-1, 2 and 3.

The hearing will be held over complaints regarding the constituencies concerned of Khulna, Sylhet and Mymensingh division tomorrow, while that of Chittagong division on Tuesday and Dhaka division on Wednesday.

Taking the decisions on the demarcation of the constituencies concerned, the Election Commission will publish the final delimitations of the 300 constituencies on April 30.

Earlier, the EC received more than 400 complaints about the delimitation of 60 constituencies within the deadline that expired on April 1.

Of the complaints, 62 were received from Rangpur division, 45 from Rajshahi, 43 from Khulna, eight from Barisal, 82 from Dhaka, 132 from Sylhet division and 32 from Chittagong division.

The EC on March 14 last published the draft delimitation of the 300 constituencies bringing changes in demarcation of some 40 parliamentary seats in 16 districts ahead of the 11th national election to be held in December.
