DU BCL leader shot in Dhaka
A Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader sustained bullet injuries after being shot at Palashi area of Dhaka University (DU) campus early today.
The injured BCL leader was identified as Abdullah Al Zobaer Bhuiyan, a vice president of BCL’s DU unit, reports our DU correspondent.
Miscreants shot him in front of Banbeis office from a private car while he along with two other BCL leaders was heading for Nilkhet from Palashi on a motorbike, said BCL’s Mohsin Hall unit President Sarker Raihan Zahir who was driving the bike, told The Daily Star.
“They blocked us with a private car, we turned back the motorbike and a miscreant from the car shot Zobaer in upper portion of his leg around 1:00am,” said Zahir.
Jubayer was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Quoting on duty doctors, Zahir said that Zonbaer is “out of danger”.
Confirming the incident, Shahbagh Police Station’s Officer-In-Charge (OC) Abu Bakar Siddique told The Daily Star, “Lalbagh police is looking into the matter.”
Contacted, Lalbagh Police Station OC Moniruzzaman said, “We have not taken any action yet as none complained or filed a case over the incident.”
