'Drug peddler' murdered in Ctg
Police recovered the bloodstained body of a murdered “drug peddler” near a rail track in Khorna area of Patiya upazila in Chittagong yesterday.
In the back of Abdul Alim, 40, there were three holes believed to be caused by bullets, said Sub-inspector Basu Debnath of Patiya Police Station.
After an autopsy they will confirm whether he was shot, said Basu Debnath.
Five containers full of local alcoholic drink were found beside the body, he said.
Abdul was from Khalil Saodagar Bari in Patiya. He had been involved in drug peddling for a long time and was an accused in three narcotic cases filed with the police station, said the SI.
He might have been killed by his business rivals during a gunfight the night before, added the police official.
An indigenous man, Mata Tanchangya, 26, from Chandanaish upazila, was detained in this connection, he said.
The body was taken to Chittagong Medical College morgue for a postmortem.
