Prof Dr AR Mallick Lecture Hall inaugurated at JU

The newly renovated “Prof Dr AR Mallick Lecture Hall” was inaugurated at the history department of Jahangirnagar University yesterday.

JU Vice Chancellor Prof Farzana Islam inaugurated the hall, in presence of the family members of Prof Dr AR Mallick, teachers and students.

Dr ATM Atiqur Rahman of history department delivered the welcome address. Dr Arifa Sultana, chairmen of the history department, presided over the programme.

Prof Dr AR Mallick’s eldest son Faruq Hasan Mallick and youngest daughter Dr Rana Ahmed delivered speeches at the inauguration ceremony that took place at the new seminar hall.

Recalling his father's memories as an eminent educationist and the first technocrat finance minister of the country, Faruq urged the students to read “Amar Jibon Kotha O Bangladesher Mukti Sangram” by Prof Dr AR Mallick to know more about him.

Dr Mallick was a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, USA in the early 60s, the first education secretary, the first high commissioner to India and the founding vice chancellor of Chittagong University.  He was also elected chairman of Asian Development Bank.
