Docudrama on Bangabandhu assassination launched
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman became victim of a well-plotted conspiracy of the anti-liberation forces who wanted to tarnish the spirit of the Liberation War through removing him from power, speakers said at a discussion yesterday.
Bangabandhu sacrificed his life for the betterment of people, they said, adding that the murder of the Father of the Nation is unforgivable.
Tiyasha Multimedia, a film production house, organised the discussion at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital on the occasion of the premier of a docudrama titled “Takhon Pachattar” (the then seventy-five).
The docudrama is based on a story of lyricist Shahid Rahaman on the assassination of Bangabandhu. It was directed by Abu Hayat Mahmud and produced by Mohammad Morshed Alam. Shamim Chowdhury is the executive producer of the docudrama.
Speaking at the discussion, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said Bangabandhu loved the country very much. That is why, he wanted to be buried in his motherland when Pakistan army arrested him and threatened to kill him in prison, he said.
Eminent rights activist Sultana Kamal thanked those involved in the project.
Eminent artist Mustafa Monowar, music composer Sheikh Sadi Khan and freedom fighter Zafar Imam also spoke.
“Takhon Pachattar” was the last production of a trilogy by Shahid Rahaman. The previous productions were also based on Bangabandhu and the Liberation War.
